Schools that have a Carousel Platinum account with MIS integration and student Single Sign-On can choose to direct students to a Student Homepage (student.carousel-learning.com) where they can access the quizzes and Study Packs that have been assigned to them.
This means that teachers in schools utilising the Student Homepage will no longer need to share links to Quizzes and Study Packs. 🎉

How it works
- When setting a quiz you will see an ‘Issue Date' field. This is the date that the quiz link will be ‘live’ and available on the student homepage. The default date will be the creation date so if you want to make the quiz available immediately, keep this date. If you would like to prepare quizzes in advance, select a date in the future and the link will display on the student’s homepage on that date.
- Quizzes that have been created before the launch of the Student Homepage feature, will not automatically transfer from your dashboard. Should you want a previously created Quiz to display on the Student Homepage, go to the action menu for the quiz on your teacher dashboard and select EDIT DETAILS. Editing the 'issue date', 'due date' or title will generate the quiz on the Student Homepage. A small 'i' will appear beside the due date of any quiz displayed on the homepage - hovering over this will show the date the quiz was, or is due to be, issued.
- You will be required to input a ‘Due Date’ before you can assign the quiz. The due date is used to organise the student homepage; the quiz will not automatically lock on the due date - you will still need to manually lock quizzes.
-
Once you have assigned the quiz to the relevant class or classes as normal, then you are done! The quizzes will appear on the student homepage on the 'Issue Date,' and have the 'Due Date noted,' as shown below.
- On the teacher dashboard, the quiz will display the ‘Due Date’. To see the date that the quiz is scheduled to be issued, hover over the information icon beside the Due Date.
- Quizzes with an 'i' displayed next to them are available on the Student Homepage.
- Quizzes that are archived, or locked, will only appear in the historic quizzes area of the Student Homepage. Students will be able to access the flashcards but will no longer be able to complete the quiz.
- Study Packs that have previously been created will be available in the Student Homepage unless archived. You can navigate to previous academic years on your dashboard using the year selector in the top left corner above 'My Quizzes' to archive Study Packs set in other years.
- Carousel uses the single sign-on credentials to verify the student’s class, meaning the correct, unique class link will appear on their homepage. You can send a generic message containing the universal link (student.carousel-learning.com) on your usual communication channel to direct students to their homepage, rather than having to share the specific links.
- When students log in for the first time on a new device, they will need to select their school. You can learn more about this and the rest of the student experience by consulting the student Guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Please note the walkthrough video below, explaining how the links transfer from the Teacher Dashboard to the Student Homepage, will be updated shortly to reflect the fact that only quizzes created after the feature launched will be automatically displayed on the Student Homepage.
Will the ‘due date’ lock the quiz?
No, the ‘due date’ is to help students organise and prioritise their homework. The quiz will need to be manually locked from the teacher dashboard if you want to prevent any further submissions. The quiz will automatically lock as part of the teacher ‘marking’ process.
I have prepared quizzes and study packs in advance - what do I need to do?
Quizzes created before the Student Homepage feature went live will not automatically display on the Student Homepage. You can edit the date using the 'EDIT DETAILS' option in the action menu (3 dots) of the quiz on your dashboard:
Entering an 'issue date' in the future will ensure the quiz is displayed on the Student Homepage on that date.
If the quiz does not have a blue 'i' symbol beside it - indicating you have manually entered required details - it will not be displayed on the Student Homepage.
To remove a study pack you will need to choose the 'archive' option from the relevant action menu. The study pack can be unarchived when you want it to be available to the students on their homepage.
Can my students use the Homepage if I don’t have an MIS integrated Carousel Platinum account or single sign-on?
MIS integration and single sign-on are both prerequisites of the student homepage feature as these are needed to ensure that the correct links are accessible to specific students. If you are interested in converting a Platinum account to MIS integration or activating single sign-on - please contact help@carousel-learning.com for more information.
Will I still need to share the links for each class?
There will always be the option to generate the link to share via other methods, but the huge advantage of the student homepage is that the link will automatically be generated on the student’s homepage on the issue date selected. You may just need to alert the students that a homework assignment is available at student.carousel-learning.com
How will my students access their homepage?
You will need to direct the students to https://student.carousel-learning.com/login, or they can now login via the STUDENT login button on the Carousel website.
What will my students see?
The student homepage has two tabs, one for their quizzes and one for their study packs.
The quizzes table has a section for current homework and a section for historic quizzes (ones that have been locked and archived). Marking a quiz automatically locks it and moves it to this area. Unlocking a quiz will move it back to the 'active' quiz area.
Keeping your dashboard tidy will help the students keep their dashboard tidy too!
The due date will help students prioritise quizzes. The learning stats and record of attempts will encourage students to reach the targets you set them.
You can view the student guide here.
