This article explains how to set a Quiz. Carousel supports Quizzes in Free Text and Multiple Choice (MCQ) format.

Setting a Quiz - Free Text or Multiple Choice
- Ensure you have added a Question Bank to your Dashboard
- Click on CREATE NEW in the "My Quizzes" section of your Dashboard.
- Enter the initial information required to create a Quiz:
- TITLE
- DUE DATE - for organisation purposes only. The quiz will not lock on the due date.
- ISSUE DATE - schools using SSO only. This will dictate when the quiz appears on the student homepage. If you would like the quiz to appear immediately keep the default date.
- QUESTION BANK
- TOPICS (optional) - you can optionally choose to narrow down the questions available to use when you get to the next step based on the topics you select at this stage. By default, all topics will be selected.
- MCQ MODE will need to be disabled to produce a Free Text Quiz from a Question Bank that also has Multiple Choice functionality and enabled if you are producing a Multiple Choice Quiz.
- Multiple Choice Quizzes can only be produced when using a MCQ Question Bank as indicated by this symbol:
- QUIZ REVISION MODE (Gold and Platinum only) allows you to mandate the flashcards that the student interacts with before taking the Quiz.

- OPTIONAL - allows the students to see the questions in flashcard form before taking the Quiz, but they can access and take the Quiz without revising the flashcards.
- NEW! MANDATORY - means the students must review the flashcards before they can take the Quiz.
- OFF- the flashcards are not available to the student. They will only have the option to take the Quiz.
- REVISE TOPICS - will give students access to the flashcards for all topics included in the quiz.
- REVISE QUESTIONS - will give access only to flashcards for the questions that have been included in the quiz.
- Enter the number of questions you would like to include in the Quiz.
- Click "SELECT QUESTIONS" to choose the questions. A screen like the following will appear:
- "CONFIRM SELECTION" once you have chosen the questions to include.
ADVANCED OPTIONS
will allow you to:
- Edit the number of attempts students can have at the quiz. Carousel sets a default of 2 attempts, however you can set your own default on your profile page.
- Choose for the questions to appear in sequential order (it's off by default so that students can't 'exchange notes' on questions when randomised, or memorise answers in order). Please note the flashcards will be displayed in a random order for the revision section of quiz to prevent students rote learning a sequence of questions.
- Turn on text to speech, to help visually impaired students or those who struggle with reading. You can also use this alongside the hide question text option to set a Quiz to test spelling, for example
- Toggle the Student Interface language for the quiz to select either English or Welsh (the Quiz will display in the language it has been written in).
- After completing the configuration of your quiz, click ASSIGN.
Assigning a Quiz
When you have created a Quiz and clicked ASSIGN you will need to choose class/es that will need access to the Quiz.
- Check the box next to the class (or classes) the Quiz should be assigned to.
- Quizzes can be assigned to your own classes (all users)
- AND / OR
- Classes across your School (Platinum users).
- Click CREATE QUIZ to complete the Quiz creation process.
- A Quiz assigned to a colleague via MY SCHOOL'S CLASSES will be displayed on the Dashboard of both the Quiz setter and the class teacher and can be managed by both users.
NOTE: MY SCHOOL'S CLASSES will not display Custom Classes teachers have created in their Platinum account.
Sharing a Quiz with Students
Your quiz will now be displayed on your Dashboard and can be managed through the ACTIONS menu (3 dots).
CLICK on the LINK icon beside the Quiz, or click CREATE LINK in the ACTIONS menu to generate the link to share with students.
Links are unique to the class and Quiz, even if the Quiz has the same content, so ensure the correct link is shared to the correct students.
Managing a Quiz
As well as allowing you to generate the Quiz link to share with students, you can also access the following functions via the ACTIONS menu (3 dots):
ANALYSE RESULTS - review the answers by question and topic for a Quiz.
MARK QUIZ - View and moderate the students' answers.
FEEDBACK - Generate a Whole Class Feedback report (Gold and Platinum only)
EDIT DETAILS - change the NAME and DATE of your Quiz. The DATE field can indicate the date set, date due, or a custom date. Quizzes do not lock after the date has passed.
DUPLICATE - Copy the details and content of a Quiz in order to reassign it.
ARCHIVE - Remove the Quiz from your Dashboard (toggle Archived to access if needed in the future)
LOCK - Prevent further student access and autosubmit any Quiz attempts.
WHITEBOARD - Covert the Quiz into the basis of a Whiteboard Quiz (Gold and Platinum only).
Toggle Quizzes I created to display Quizzes assigned to colleagues classes. The Quizzes will be displayed on your Dashboard, highlighted pink. (Platinum users)
