Both students and teachers are involved with marking Carousel Quizzes, allowing for powerful reflection on the part of the student, and for teachers to moderate the responses efficiently.
Selecting Questions to Include in Whole Class Feedback (Platinum only)
Student Marking Stage
Immediately after answering a Quiz, students go through and mark their answers:
- Exact matches and blank answers are auto-marked by Carousel.
- Students have to pick either 'NO, I WAS WRONG' or 'YES, I'M CORRECT' for all other answers:

If a student has entered 'I don't know', 'IDK', 'Dunno', 'don't know' Carousel will be mark the response as wrong.
Teacher Moderation Stage
Once students have self-marked and submitted their Quiz, or the homework deadline has passed, you can:
- Select MARK QUIZ from the ACTIONS menu in your Teacher Dashboard:
- A Quiz will automatically lock when marking begins and any unfinished responses will be autosubmitted.
- A Quiz can be unlocked to make it accessible to students again if needed.
The teacher marking screen allows you to scroll quickly through each question to review students' self-marking.
- Select if you would like the student answers to be ANONYMISED and/or RANDOMISED when marking by activating the toggles in the top right hand menu.
- Activate this toggle to remove answers Carousel has automarked from those you need to moderate.
- Use the CHANGE TO CORRECT or INCORRECT buttons to amend an answer that a student has marked inaccurately.
- Click ANALYSE RESULTS to view your students' results at both question and topic level.
Selecting Questions to Include in Whole Class Feedback
- For each question, you can choose to select specific student answers that will be useful to feed back to the whole class by ticking the INCLUDE IN FEEDBACK box.
- Selected areas for feedback may include:
- common errors and misconceptions
- harsh or lenient self-marking
- spelling errors
- answers that may not have been written independently by students.
- In the example below, Mr. Smith wants to include Nadia's answer in the Whole Class Feedback report as it has some spelling errors he wants to discuss with the class, and Bryda's answer because she marked herself as incorrect, despite putting the correct answer just not in a different order to the model answer.
- The name of the student is not displayed when their answer is included in feedback.
Once this stage of marking is completed you can either:
- Jump to viewing the Whole Class Feedback report, where you have the option to correct students' marking in discussion with them
- Click ANALYSE RESULTS to view your students' results at both question and topic level.
From here you can choose to download results as a CSV file, return to the Dashboard, or view the Whole Class Feedback report.
