Both students and teachers are involved with marking Carousel quizzes.
First, immediately after answering a quiz, students go through and mark their answers. Exact matches and blank answers are auto-matched; for all other answers, students have to pick either 'NO, I WAS WRONG' or 'YES, I'M CORRECT':
NB: If a student has entered 'I don't know', 'IDK', 'Dunno', 'don't know' or left the answer blank, it will be marked wrong and the student will not have the opportunity to change it.
Then, once all students have self-marked and submitted their quiz, the teacher selects 'MARK QUIZ' from the 'ACTIONS' menu in their Teacher Dashboard:
WARNING: when you begin marking you lock the quiz, so make sure that everyone you want to respond has done so before you begin marking.
The teacher marking screen allows you to scroll quickly through each question to review students' self-marking. Where you disagree with the mark a student has assigned themselves you can change it using the CHANGE TO CORRECT and CHANGE TO INCORRECT buttons that show up for manually marked questions.
For each question, you can select specific student answers that will be useful to feed back to the whole class by ticking the 'Include in Feedback' box. Please note this will not reveal the name of the student responsible.
In the example below, Mr. Smith wants to include Nadia's answer in the Whole Class Feedback report as it has some spelling errors he wants to discuss with the class, and Bryda's answer because she marked herself as incorrect, despite putting the correct answer just not in a different order to the model answer.
NB: you can use the toggle switch in the top right of the screen to show only manually marked questions. This is useful for larger classes where you want to focus only on moderation and not seeing all students answers when you mark.
Once this stage of marking is completed you can either jump to viewing the Whole Class Feedback report, where you have the option to correct students' marking in discussion with them, or click 'Analyse Results' where you can see your class's results at both question and topic level.
From here you can choose to download results as a CSV file, return to the Dashboard, or view the Whole Class Feedback report.
